1. Solar energy is becoming more and more popular as a source of household energy in many

countries around the world. Why is this? What are the advantages and disadvantages of solar energy?

2. Many people believe that living a city life offers greater benefits as compared to the countryside? To 

what extent do you agree or disagree?

3. Many people are afraid to leave their home because of crime. Some believe that more action should be taken to prevent crime. While others feel that little action can be done to stop crime. What is your view?

4. In the past, shopping was a routine domestic task. Many people nowadays regard it as a hobby. To what extent do you think this is a positive trend?

5. Some claim that studying abroad has great benefits for a student’s home country. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

6. Some people believe that it is best to accept a bad situation, such as an unsatisfactory job or

storage of money. Others argue that it is better to try and improve such situations. Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.

7. School children today take part in work experience sessions for short periods of time instead of attending school? Is this positive or a negative development. 

8. Today more and more tourists are visiting places where conditions are difficult, such as the Sahara desert or the Antarctic. What are the benefits and disadvantages for tourists who visit such places?

9. Television is dangerous because it destroys family life and any sense of community; instead of visiting people or talking with our family we just watch television. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this opinion?

10. International tourism has brought about enormous benefits to many places. At the same time, there is concern about its impact on local inhabitants and the environment. Do the disadvantages of international tourism outweigh the advantages?

IELTS Writing Task 2 Samples  It is often said that governments spend too much money on projects to protect wildlife. While there are other problems that are more important? Do you agree or disagree? Many people argue that money spend on safety of animals is utterly wastage. They believe that ministry should consider subversive problems such as poverty, pollution and population rather than wildlife creatures.
